A former Bradford man accused of sexually assaulting children in McKean and Elk counties will serve a lengthy prison sentence.
Michael A. Chittester, 28, will serve 37 ½ to 75 years in state prison for the charges. He was sentenced Dec. 12 in Elk County Court.
Chittester was convicted after a three-day jury trial Nov. 6-8 at the Elk County Courthouse in Ridgway. The jury heard the testimony for cases in both Elk and McKean cases.
At the time of his arrest, investigators in Elk County alleged that Chittester raped a 10-year-old and molested a 5-year-old over a period of about four years. Meanwhile, in McKean County, he was accused of raping a 10-year-old girl at a camp in Hamilton Township, according to court records filed at the time of his arrest.
Chittester has one more criminal case pending, in which he is charged with conspiracy-intimidate witness/victim and criminal use of a communication facility, both third-degree felonies. The jury selection that was scheduled for Dec. 16 has been continued.
The DuBois Courier Express reported that Chittester is accused in the case of contacting people to try to get a victim to change her story.
On Nov. 8, two disorderly conduct cases were filed against Chittester due to statements he allegedly made during the trial days, but both disorderly conduct cases have been withdrawn, court records indicate.
