The Penn State Extension will host a workshop in January in Kane on “Making Cover Crops Pay.”
Participants will learn how cover crops can provide a positive return to one’s farm in the form of improved soil health, nutrient fixation and cycling, and weed control. In this interactive workshop, participants will decide what aspects of cover cropping is valuable to them.
The workshop will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Lantz Corners Conference Center, 2952 U.S. Route 219, Kane.
Registration deadline is Jan. 23.
Speakers will be Extension educators Sjoerd Duiker and Zach Larson. Topics include “What Does Soil Health Mean to Me?,” “Using Legumes for N Production,” “Making Your Own Cover Crop Mixes” and “Weed Management with Cover Crops.”
