JASPER, N.Y. — Northern Potter used turnovers and double-digit scoring performances from Carter Anderson and Ezra Sprow to top Jasper-Troupsburg (N.Y.) 52-36 win Friday night.
The Panthers (4-3) led 16-13 after the first quarter before allowing just four J-T points in the second en route to a 32-17 halftime lead. NoPo maintained its lead from there for the 16-point win.
Anderson led NP with a game-high 18 points, and added 10 rebounds and five steals. Sprow also picked up a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Tanyon Brown added seven points and eight steals.
Anderson has now scored in double digits in six of NP’s seven games this season.
“We pressed most of the game to pick the tempo up and create turnovers to get easy baskets,” Northern Potter coach Derek Erway said. “We also did a really good job of boxing out tonight.”
Reece Draper and Tyler Flint each scored 10 points for Jasper-Troupsburg.
NoPo plays tonight at 7:15 against Bradford Central (N.Y.).

ST. MARYS — Regis Wortman scored 20 points, including six in the fourth quarter, to send the Crusaders past St. Marys in their biggest test of the early season.
Trailing by one (30-29) at the half, the Crusaders (7-0) held St. Marys to just three points in the third quarter as their defense clamped down and they jumped ahead by 38-33 after three quarters.
St. Marys (2-4) was led by Mitchell Reiter and Cahil Parrish who scored 16 and 12 points, respectively.
The Dutch hit six 3-pointers in the game, while ECC knocked down just two. But the Crusaders went 10-of-14 at the free-throw line and made four of their attempts in the fourth quarter.

Sheffield Christmas Tournament
Kane 40, Smethport 35
SHEFFIELD — Smethport couldn’t overcome an 0-for-10 night from three-point land in a 40-35 loss to Kane in the opening round of the Sheffield Christmas Tournament.
The Hubbers (2-4) went back-and-forth with Kane the entire night, as no team led by more than two after each of the game’s first three quarters. Smethport led 15-13 at halftime before Kane took a 28-27 lead into the fourth.
“It didn’t seem like anybody could make any kind of run,” said Smethport head coach Jay Acker. “But in the fourth quarter, we couldn’t stop (Mason) Zuzeck. I’m pretty sure all of his points were off screen-and-roll layups, and we just couldn’t defend it.”
It proved costly, as Zuzeck scored a game-high 20 points for the Wolves (3-3).
Smethport was led by Noah Lent’s eight points and Layne Shall’s seven.
The Hubbers weren’t without their chances at the end, though, according to Acker.
“We missed two open threes at the end of the game that could’ve tied it. They just didn’t go in.”
