The PA State Council of Farm Organizations (PSCFO) announced that it is accepting applications for the Dedication to Agriculture Award to be awarded in February 2020.
According to PSCFO Executive Director Vince Phillips, individuals who have dedicated themselves to helping PA Agriculture do not always receive the positive recognition they deserve.
“This award is meant to showcase the efforts of unsung heroes who give of themselves in promoting Pennsylvania Agriculture,” he said.
The PSCFO Dedication to Agriculture Award will be presented Feb. 4, as part of the annual meeting of the Pennsylvania State Council of Farm Organizations held in the State Capitol. The first recipient announced in 2019 was Greene County cattle farmer and conservationist Jim Cowell.
The nomination period closes Jan. 15. Nomination forms are available from PSCFO via vince@vphillipsassoc.com.
Nomination criteria for the award must be based on one or more of the following: Service with a significant economic or social impact on rural Pennsylvania; service generally affecting PA Agriculture; service making a vital difference in one component of PA Agriculture such as for a specific commodity; unheralded accomplishment with limited public awareness; public service performed at the local, state, or national level providing a meaningful contribution/benefit to agriculture; or service providing a greater awareness of agriculture’s importance to the general public.
