SMETHPORT — A Smethport man has been convicted of stealing money from his former employer.
After a one-day jury trial, Dustin T. Jacoby, 33, was found guilty of charges of burglary, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and criminal trespass, said District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer.
“The crimes occurred between January 30, 2019 and February 1, 2019, at the Corner Bistro and Pizza Company in Smethport,” said Shaffer, who prosecuted the case on behalf of the Commonwealth.
Officer Shayne Miller investigated the case and filed charges, she said.
Court records filed at the time of Jacoby’s arrest indicated Jacoby was caught on video stealing money from the Corner Bistro and Pizza Co. Court records alleged that he took more than $4,000 overall from the business.
Jacoby will be sentenced Jan. 16.
