SMETHPORT — A Bradford woman was found guilty of allegations she whipped a 6-year-old with a belt.
Contessa N. Haun, 32, appeared for a jury trial Dec. 11 in McKean County Court, where she was found guilty of all charges against her: simple assault and endangering the welfare of children, first-degree misdemeanors; and harassment, a summary charge, court records indicate.
The trial was heard before President Judge John Pavlock.
The criminal complaint filed at the time of her arrest alleged that Haun, who was living in Eldred at the time, disciplined a 6-year-old boy by hitting him with a belt multiple times and placing him in a corner. Later, he was having trouble sitting down in school due to severe bruising on his back and buttocks.
Haun will be sentenced Jan. 2. She is free, having posted $10,000 bail.
