BATH, N.Y. — The 2019 Wreaths Across America Day will be held on Saturday in Bath National Cemetery at the Bath VA Medical Center.
This year’s theme is “Everyone Plays a Part” and the mission is to Remember the Fallen, Honor those who Serve, and Teach our children the value of Freedom. It is an event that helps us to never forget that the freedoms we enjoy came at such a great cost by area service men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to keep our country free and safe.
A total of 5,000 wreaths have been sponsored for this year’s event. Placing of wreaths on veterans graves will begin immediately following the noon ceremony. The public is invited to participate in the wreath laying ceremony and can sign up at www.wreathsacrossamericabathny.org. Arrival time that day is 11:30 a.m. Buses will be provided to shuttle volunteers from the designated parking area to the cemetery. Participants are advised to dress accordingly based on weather conditions.
The VA Employees Association, VA Volunteer Services and the Corning-Baron Steuben and Onwentsia DAR Chapters will provide refreshments following the event. Follow the Bath event at www.facebook.com/WAA.BathNationalCemetery for up-to-date information.
