Holiday crime: Speaking of thieves and the holiday season, here are a few crimes in the past that are too good to forget.
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer can get pretty heavy in Los Angeles, but that doesn’t deter the determined thief. According to www.odee.com, a 200-lb Rudolph was stolen from atop a city sign in LA in 2014.
The large decoration had been a staple of the holiday decor for Rolling Hills Estates for 50 years. On the plus side, Rudolph was found by police, thanks to a tip from a tv viewer, on top of a mobile home in Gardena, belonging to a gardener who worked near the location where the Rudolph disappeared. The man was charged with possession of stolen property.
In another case of holiday spirit gone wrong, a giant straw goat, which is crafted each holiday season in Gavle, Sweden, was burned for the 27th time in 2013.
According to news outlets, the goat is 43-feet high and weighs 3.6 tons. It has been crafted since 1966 and, in a long-standing not so joyful tradition, was burned by individuals who are considered to have committed a criminal act by setting the fire.
