KANE — Kane High School senior Emily Peterson recently signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her running career at Division I St. Bonaventure University next year.
Peterson was a state qualifier in the 1600 meters as a junior, running in 5:36, and was also a member of the Lady Wolves’ district champion 3200 relay team. She is a three-time district medalist in the 800 meters and is on the school all-time list in both events.
She was a state qualifier this fall during the cross country season.
“Emily is a fantastic athlete,” Kane girls track distance coach Mark Sirianni said. “I have had the pleasure to work with her for the past five years and her hard work, dedication and commitment to excellence will take her a long way as she continues her career running for St. Bonaventure. “Emily is a leader on and off the track, she is one of the smartest runners that I have ever coached, she knows her events inside and out. Her goal has always been to run at the collegiate level, so we are all excited for her chance to fulfill here dream at St. Bonaventure.”
