A Florida man who waived a preliminary hearing Monday for indecent assault allegations was one of several to appear for criminal cases recently in McKean County magisterial district court offices.
Tyler D. Schimp, 34, of 4775 Cinnamon Fern Drive, Jacksonville, Fla., waived a preliminary hearing Monday before District Judge David Engman for allegations he touched an 11-year-old girl.
Schimp is charged with indecent assault of a person less than 13 years old and corruption of minors, third-degree felonies; two counts of indecent assault of a person less than 13 years old, first-degree misdemeanors; two counts each of indecent assault without consent and indecent assault of a person less than 16 years old, second-degree misdemeanors; and two counts of summary harassment.
According to the criminal complaint, on Dec. 30 and again on Dec. 31 in 2018, in Lafayette Township, Schimp touched the girl in an inappropriate way. When another person at the house confronted him, “Schimp informed her that he was sorry and he was just” aroused, the complaint indicated.
Schimp then allegedly called his brother and told him “he had to leave town because he messed up and molested the victim,” the complaint stated.
Schimp is incarcerated in McKean County Jail without bail. Court records list multiple reasons for the bail decision: There is not enough information to release him, he is a flight risk and he has no phone or job.
Also in court, Rachel Munson, 34, of 14034 Mill St., Springville, N.Y., was arraigned Friday before District Judge Dominic Cercone on charges of aggravated assault, a second-degree felony; simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; and harassment, a summary charge.
The criminal complaint states that 10:04 p.m. Thursday, Foster Township Police were dispatched to 42 Buchanan Hollow Road for a domestic dispute.
According to the complaint, Munson told police that during the domestic dispute, a man grabbed her throat a couple of times, then threw her to the ground and put his knees on her back. When asked the cause of the argument, Munson said he became irritated when they were talking about her ex. She said both of them had been drinking, which she said sometimes makes his PTSD — due to being a Marine — come back, and she noted that he had been violent recently, complaint indicated.
Meanwhile, the male told police that Munson had an argument with her ex. He made comments to her about her ex, and she allegedly became violent and began throwing items, including a cast iron skillet, knives, plates, a toaster and a candle. He told police he tried to restrain her to get her to calm down so he could get her to go to bed, and he took her to the ground with his knee to try to restrain her, according to the criminal complaint.
Munson is free on $5,000 unsecured bail, and she is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
Rexford E. Snyder, 62, of Port Allegany, had all charges against him bound to court at a preliminary hearing Monday before District Judge William Todd. Snyder is charged with possession of firearm prohibited, a second-degree felony; DUI-general impairment, a misdemeanor; and eight summary traffic violations. According to the criminal complaint, on Oct. 26, Snyder rolled his all-terrain vehicle in Annin Township; Police allegedly found Snyder to be under the influence of alcohol, as well as in possession of a loaded handgun. He is in McKean County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Tosha M. Alcock, 29, of Port Allegany, had misdemeanor charges of cruelty to animals and neglect of animals-sustenance/water against her withdrawn. Alcock, who was scheduled for a preliminary hearing Monday before District Judge William Todd, pleaded guilty to a summary charge of neglect of animals-vet care. She was accused in an alleged incident July 11 in Annin Township.
Charles L. Baker, 63, of Eldred, had misdemeanor charges of terroristic threats and simple assault against him withdrawn. Baker was accused in an alleged incident Aug. 6 in Eldred Township. Baker, who was scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing Monday before District Judge William Todd, pleaded guilty to a summary charge of harassment.
