PORT ALLEGANY — From Dec. 2-7, S.W. Smith Memorial Public Library is collecting nonperishable food or bath and body items in exchange for deduction of library fines.
For each item donated, the library will deduct $1 from that person’s fines. Patrons without fines may also donate food to help a child patron pay down his/her fine.
Bring donations to the S.W. Smith Memorial Library at 201 E. Maple St. in Port Allegany. All food collected will be donated to local food pantries. Bath and body items will be donated to the Gator Closet at the Port Allegany High School.
Also during the holiday season, the library will have amended hours certain days.
The library will close early at 6 p.m. Dec. 10 to host a holiday party for the library board and staff, and the library will be closed all day on Dec. 24-25. The library will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 28 and from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 31.
