The Bradford Area Public Library will host several activities for young children throughout the month of December.
• Story Seekers will meet from 11 a.m. to noon Dec. 2 for a special Holiday Munchies edition. Laurie Maletto of Penn State Extension will share her holiday spirit with Story Seekers. They will listen to the story of Christmas and decorate cookies.
• Story Seekers will meet from 11 a.m. to noon Dec. 6 with a reading of the book “The Love Letter” by Anika Aldamuy Denise. They will then do an activity based on the book, which illustrates how a little bit of heart goes a long way to making the world a better place.
• Story Seekers will meet from 11 a.m. to noon Dec. 9, when children will listen to “‘Stand Back,’ Said the Elephant, ‘I’m Going to Sneeze!’” by Patricia Thomas, the classic story of an enormous sneeze in the making, told in sprightly nonsense verse.
• Story Seekers Christmas party for children and their families will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Dec. 20. The group will read a holiday book, do crafts and play games. There will be an area for holiday pictures and light refreshments.
• Story Seekers will celebrate the holidays will books and crafts from 11 a.m. to noon on Dec. 13, 16 and 23. The group will not meet Dec. 27.
• Evening Storytime will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Dec. 4, 11 and 18. On Dec. 4, they will read “Pick a Pine Tree” by Patricia Toht, a story of holiday tradition of finding and decorating the Christmas tree, then follow up this story with a craft. Miss Debbie will share a book about a snowman and do an activity related to the book. On Dec. 18, Miss Mary will read “Russell’s Christmas Magic” by Rob Scotton. In the book, Santa’s sleigh broke down leaving Santa stranded in the woods. Santa is worried that Christmas will be canceled but Russell the Sheep comes to the rescue.
• Juice Box Heroes with Jim Ronan will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Dec. 18. Preschool aged children and their families can sing and dance to Christmas songs.
• First Night New Year’s Eve party for children and their families will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Dec. 31. There will be refreshments, games and photo areas. The library will have a traditional balloon drop at noon.
