Bradford senior Paige Hetrick signed her National Letter of Intent and will continue her decorated swimming career at the University of Louisville.
Hetrick will join the Cardinals this fall, and has swum at the Bradford Family YMCA for 12 years under head coach Caren Barnes.
“We are thrilled to have Paige join our Louisville family,” said U of L head coach Arthur Albiero. “We believe the sky is the limit for Paige, and we can’t wait to partner together. Humble and hungry is the definition of our program, and Paige fits that perfectly.”
Added Barnes, “I have had the pleasure to coach Paige the past 12 years. I’ve seen her grow into an excellent athlete but more importantly into a young woman who has become a great team leader and role model. She possesses the talent, work ethic and character to excel at Louisville and in all of her future endeavors.”
The signing is another feather in the cap for Hetrick, who won four national YMCA championships in August in the 200-meter backstroke, 100-meter backstroke, 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter freestyle. Her times in the backstroke races were Olympic-qualifying.
Said the star swimmer of her signing, “I am so grateful to the University of Louisville for giving me this amazing opportunity to continue my swim career and receive an education. I am also extremely grateful to my entire family, Coach Caren, my teammates and everyone who helped me get to this day.
“I am really excited to start the next chapter and be part of the Cardinal family. Dreams really do come true.”
