Bradford Township supervisors recognized the veterans in the room Monday and thanked them for their service during the regular monthly meeting.
A resolution regarding the 2019 CDBG Grant application for $98,371 in financial assistance under the 2019 Community Development Block Grant Program was unanimously approved by Bradford Township supervisors. Likewise, resolutions for a Displacement policy to be applied to the 2019 CDBG entitlement allocation for Bradford Township and a Fair Housing Policy for the Bradford Township CDBG Program were all passed with supporting votes from all three supervisors.
A review of quotes for the replacement of steel doors for the road department, police department and township office building was put before the supervisors. Two quotes were received, one from Daniel Burkhouse General Contracting for $11,913 and one from J.A. Luciano and Sons, LLC, for $11,558. The motion was tabled, as Supervisor Dave Geitner suggested discussion of turnaround time for the project’s completion, since the two bids received were very close.
A motion to sell the township grader “as is” for $1,506 to Pat Yohe was also tabled, as supervisors wish to consider other sales options or trading the grader in for a newer model.
Bradford Area Public Library Director Lacey Love addressed the board of supervisors, explaining that the library receives $8,000 in support from Bradford Township, which accounts for roughly 1/3 of the funds the library is required to spend for Bradford Township residents, a total of $24,073 in Local Financial Effort (LFE). Love explained she was not at the meeting to request more funding from the township; however, she did request that the township keep the funding at the level it is currently and not choose to decrease it.
Currently, 1,702 Bradford Township residents, or 35.3% of the township population, have library cards and have checked out over 5,200 items from the library in 2019.
Other orders of business included:
— payment of the invoices for the township for the month of October, which totaled $311,661.49, was approved 3-0. Those invoices were as follows: General Fund 106,328.94; Garbage Fund $36,544.61; State Liquid Fuels $48,123.27; Roads & Bridges $2,910.47; Sewer Fund $97,417.04; Lighting Fund $1,274.96 and Machinery Fund $19,062.20.
— a motion to have a Bradford Township Sewer Department employee assist with winter plowing was passed, 2-1.
—approval to accept the proposal from E&M Engineering for $2,000 to process the Chapter 94 and EDU calculations for 2020 passed, 2-1.
— approval to adjust bad debt no longer collectible by the township for a property sold through judicial sale, one sold through Sheriff Sale and a sewer account for a home that was remodeled in 2018 was approved, 3-0.
The township offices will be closed from Nov. 28 to Dec. 2 for the Thanksgiving holiday. The Township road department will be off Nov. 28 through Dec. 3, and the township garbage department will be off Nov. 28 and Monday, Dec. 2 but will work Nov. 29.
The regular meeting for December will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 16, a week later than normal, in order to allow the appropriate amount of time for the budget to be on public display.
