A Lewis Run man was sent to McKean County Jail Thursday after being found with a gun and drugs while walking along Main Street around noon.
Steven Michael Holly, 43, of 7 Lang Lane, is charged with possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, a felony; possession of a firearm prohibited, a second-degree felony; possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanors.
According to court records, Bradford City Police saw Holly walking in the area of East Main and Main streets and knew there was an active warrant for his arrest. Two officers approached him. Holly was wearing a hoodie and kept putting his hands in the hoodie’s pockets, despite the officers telling him not to. Holly said he was doing it because he was cold. The officers told him he was under arrest on a warrant, and were able to peacefully cuff him. Holly was wearing a backpack, which officers removed and searched, the complaint read.
The backpack contained drug paraphernalia, a loaded 9 mm magazine and methamphetamine, which Holly said he had purchased on East Main Street. The handgun was located in his front waistband, the complaint alleged. He is prohibited from owning a gun because of a prior narcotics conviction, the complaint stated.
He was arraigned Thursday afternoon before District Judge Dom Cercone and remanded to jail in lieu of $30,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court Nov. 14.
Eldred man jailed for alleged abuse of dog
An Eldred man is in McKean County Jail for allegedly abusing a dog at a Duke Center residence.
Spencer Ryan Bess, 27, of 32 King St., is charged with cruelty to animals, a second-degree misdemeanor.
On Oct. 21, Lewis Run-based state police responded to a Duke Center residence for a report of a domestic incident that took place there. According to the criminal complaint, Bess was at the residence when the dog started barking, so he taped the dog’s mouth shut with electrical tape.
Another resident of the home returned and saw the dog’s mouth taped, and that the dog was foaming at the mouth. After the tape was removed, Bess kicked the dog off the porch of the residence.
Bess was arraigned Thursday before District Judge Rich Luther and remanded to jail in lieu of $5,000 percentage bail. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court Nov. 15.
