Holiday shopping: Candy Cane Lane will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 7. This is the place to be for one-stop gift shopping! Last year, over 50 vendors were on hand, and the hope this year is for even more shopping options.
Vendor applications are being accepted now. This event benefits the Oswayo Valley Music Boosters and the Oswayo Valley Memorial Library.
Teens Helping Teens: In October, the library hosted a community service program called “Teens Helping Teens”. O.V.M.S. students met to make tie fleece blankets. After the blankets were assembled, the kids put together ten packets which include a tie blanket, a pillow and pillow case, and a book. These will be taken to the Christmas House in Coudersport and will be given to teenagers this holiday season. These students learned about teamwork, raising funds, and giving of their time to help others in need.
The money to purchase the material for the blankets came from donations provided from local community organizations. The middle school students also took up a “Pennies for Pillows” collection at school which paid for the pillows. The library donated teen-appropriate books. Thank you to all who made this project possible!
Book Discussion: The next book discussion will take place at 10 a.m. on Nov. 14. The group will be discussing Same Kind of Different As Me by Ron Hall & Denver Moore with Lynn Vincent. Books are provided by the Potter-Tioga Library System. All are welcome. These discussions are held the second Thursday of each month and begin at 10 a.m.
Craft group: The crafting group meets from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday. All crafters are welcome. We would love to have you join us!
Ongoing Programming: The following ongoing monthly program events are open to everyone. — Writer’s Guild: third Wednesday of the month, 6:30 p.m.
— Stitch Together Crafting Group: every Thursday afternoon, 1-3 p.m.
The Oswayo Valley Historical Society is open for research in the library basement every Friday afternoon 1-4 and the second and fourth Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.
