SMETHPORT — A rededication ceremony will be held at 1:15 p.m. on Nov. 11 to recognize the veterans buried at the Rose Hill Cemetery.
The Smethport Area High School band will march from the high school to the cemetery beginning at 1 p.m.
“Young” Ethan Nannen of Smethport recently completed a several month project to reset Civil War and other military headstones at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Smethport. The headstones’ foundations had sunk and crumbled.
Ethan, with the help of his father, Graham Nannen and others, pulled the headstones from the ground, poured new concrete forms for their bases and reset the stones.
The ceremony will start off with an opening prayer, followed by a welcome by President Judge John H. Pavlock, music performance by the Smethport Area High School band, speech by Ethan Nannen, a song by Smethport Area High School choir, reading of the names of the stones that were reset, playing of Taps, and a closing prayer.
The ceremony is to honor all our veterans, and will last 45 minutes to an hour.
