A Bradford man is in McKean County Jail for allegedly assaulting a juvenile and striking her with a computer printer.
Michael Pope, 36, of Boyer Street, is charged with aggravated assault, a first-degree felony; two counts of simple assault, second-degree misdemeanors; and harassment, a summary offense.
According to the criminal complaint in the case, on Wednesday evening, police were called to a domestic incident at a Boyer Street residence where a man was assaulting a juvenile. When police arrived, they spoke to a third person at the residence, who said Pope was in the juvenile’s room. An officer entered the home and met Pope in the kitchen as he came from the juvenile’s room. The victim was extremely upset and Pope was “highly intoxicated” and “covered in blood with a laceration on his head,” the complaint alleged.
Police spoke to the victim and the third person at the residence, both of whom told police that Pope was intoxicated and became angry with the victim. He followed her to her bedroom and began hitting his head on the wall, causing a laceration. He then went to the juvenile’s bed and began hitting her in the head with a closed fist. He pushed her several times, threw a cell phone at her and then threw a computer printer at her, the complaint stated.
Both items struck her. After police arrived, the juvenile was taken to Bradford Regional Medical Center for evaluation and treatment. Pope was taken into custody, and arraigned Wednesday night before District Judge Rich Luther. He was remanded to jail in lieu of $45,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Halloween.
