The Bradford Main Street Movie House’s annual independent film series is underway.
Films will be shown at 5:30 p.m. each Monday through Dec. 16.
The next film is “Luce” starring Naomi Watts, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Octavia Spencer and Tim Roth. The R-rated drama features a liberal-minded couple, Amy and Peter Edgar, who are forced to reconsider their image of their adopted son after they discover he has written an extremely disturbing essay for his class at school. Running time is 1 hour, 49 minutes.
On Nov. 4, the film “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” featuring Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie. Actor Rick Dalton gained fame and fortune by starring in a 1950s television Western, but is now struggling to find meaningful work in a Hollywood that he doesn’t recognize anymore. He spends most of his time drinking and palling around with Cliff Booth, his easygoing best friend and longtime stunt double.
The running time for the R-rated drama is 2 hours, 40 minutes.
The film “Judy” will be shown on Nov. 11. Starring Renee Zellweger, Finn Wittrock and Jessie Buckley, the movie is about Judy Garland. Thirty years after starring in “The Wizard of Oz,” beloved actress and singer Judy Garland arrives in London to perform sold-out shows at the Talk of the Town nightclub. While there, she reminisces with friends and fans and begins a whirlwind romance with musician Mickey Deans, her soon-to-be fifth husband.
The PG-13 drama has a running time of 1 hour, 58 minutes.
On Nov. 18, the film “Blinded by the Light” will be shown. Starring Viveik Kalra and Hayley Atwell, the movie focuses on Javed, a Pakistani teenager who experiences racism and economic turmoil while living in Luton, England, in 1987. He wrties poetry as a way to escape the intolerance of his hometown and the stubborn views of his traditional father. When a classmate introduces him to the music of Bruce Springsteen, Javed sees parallels between the singer’s powerful lyrics and his own working-class environment. Springsteen’s melodies soon inspire Javed to find his own voice and follow his dreams.
Running time for the PG-13 drama is 1 hour, 58 minutes.
The film “Where’d You Go Bernadette?” starring Cate Blanchette, Billy Crudup and Kristen Wiig will be featured on Nov. 25.
Former architect Bernadette Fox seems to have it all — a beautiful home in Seattle, a successful and loving husband and a brilliant teenage daughter who’s about to attend boarding school. When Bernadette suddenly disappears without a trace, her concerned family sets off on an exciting adventure to solve the mystery of where she might have gone.
The drama, rated PG, has a running time of 2 hours, 10 minutes.
“Peanut Butter Falcon” will be shown on Dec. 2. The film stars Shia LeBeouf, Dakota Johnson and Zack Gottsagen. After running away from a residential nursing home to pursue his dream of becoming a pro wrestler, a man who has Down syndrome befriends an outlaw who becomes his coach and ally.
The PG-13 drama has a run time of 1 hour, 37 minutes.
On Dec. 9, the film “Lucy in the Sky” starring Natalie Portman, Zazie Beetz and Jon Hamm will be featured. After an awe-inspiring experience in outer space, an astronaut returns to earth and starts to lose touch with reality in a world that now seems too small.
The R-rated drama/fantasy has a running time of 2 hours, 4 minutes.
“Downton Abbey” will take the screen on Dec. 16. Starring Maggie Smith, Michelle Dockery and Hugh Bonneville, the film continues the storyline from the popular series.
Excitement is high at Downton Abbey when the Crawley family learns that King George V and Queen Mary are coming to visit. But trouble soon arises when Mrs. Patmore’s Daisy and the rest of the servants learn that the king and queen travel with their own chefs and attendants — setting the stage for an impromptu sceme and other shenanigans.
The PG-rated drama has a running time of 2 hours, 3 minutes.
