TOPS PA #1704
The members of Take Off Pounds Sensibly #1704 met Monday night at 6:45 p.m. in the Hooker Fulton building.
Six members weighed in losing 1.8 pounds with one member remaining the same. There was one guest in attendance. Bonnie was the Best Loser as well as the Officer of the Week and Silvana was the Best Loser in Waiting.
Dee was the guest speaker and shared her weight loss journey with the group. Having lost 35 pounds, she shared some of the following tips: Victory starts in your mind, pick a day and clean the unhealthy food out from your kitchen, make a shopping list, take your measurements, plan on being disciplined, journal what you eat every day, drink plenty of water, stop eating when you are no longer hungry and join a support group (such as TOPS).
Members are to steer clear of Coke products and try cucumber water.
Delta Kappa Gamma
The Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met Thursday in Bradford.
President Rebecca Hilzinger called the meeting to order, followed by the collect and an inspirational thought for the day. The Delta Kappa Gamma Society promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education.
The minutes of the September meeting and the treasurer’s report were read and accepted by the membership. The membership chairman reminded members to nominate people for membership.
Patti Neidich announced that Delta Kappa Gamma will again join with Zonta to support the Victims Resource Center Nov. 25. Baby items are needed. Kathy Kresge reminded members that Delta Kappa Gamma is also packing shoe boxes for children at the Victims Resource Center. The shoe boxes should contain personal care items as well as crayons and coloring books or pencils and drawing paper.
Cathy Long gave a short report on a field trip her class took to Ganondagan State Historic Site, the location of the largest Seneca Village of the 17th century. Students visited a reconstructed longhouse and the visitors center. Long also talked about the advantages of a field trip. Students travel to new places and meet new people as well as learn in an environment where they will not be tested.
The dates for the 2020 state convention in State College are June 12-14. The international convention will be July 7-11 in Philadelphia.
The Hostess Committee of Nancy Miller, Patti Neidich, Phyllis Pionzio and Rebecca Ryan was thanked for the table decorations and for organizing the dinner and Alicia Hill for the Scholarship Fund Gift Bag.
The next meeting will be held Nov. 23 in Port Allegany.
