A Bradford man waived a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge Dominic Cercone for allegations that he threatened employees with McKean County Children & Youth Services.
Daniel J. Roach, 43, of 27 Pleasant St., is charged with terroristic threats, a first-degree misdemeanor; interference with child custody, a second-degree misdemeanor; and disorderly conduct, a third-degree misdemeanor.
According to the criminal complaint, at 4 p.m. Sept. 16, CYS requested assistance from Bradford City Police to locate a girl for whom they just got an emergency custody court order. CYS contacted the girl’s father — Roach — and he allegedly was uncooperative and would not give the girl’s location.
CYS contacted Roach again, and he agreed to meet CYS at 8 p.m. at Country Fair in Bradford. Roach and the girl were located standing outside a vehicle by 27 Pleasant St., and police and CYS caseworkers arrived on scene. The girl was told to get her belongings and go with CYS.
Roach grew “very irate” and began screaming profanities at the caseworkers and telling officers not to touch his daughter without a female officer, according to the complaint.
“Roach also stated that these officers better be bringing more backup,” the complaint stated.
After police spoke with Roach, saying the girl needed to get out of the vehicle and go with CYS, Roach continued to say no officer would touch her; then, he started to walk toward CYS workers, swearing at them and saying he would kill them, according to court records.
At this point, Roach was taken to the ground and arrested.
Roach is free, having posted $15,000 bail.
