SMETHPORT — A Port Allegany man was convicted of most of the charges against him at a trial Monday in McKean County Court for firearm and drug charges.
The jury found Donald F. Green Jr., 59, guilty of three counts of persons not to possess firearms, felonies; possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanors, District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer reported.
Green was found not guilty of two additional counts of persons not to possess firearms and one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, Shaffer noted.
She explained that Green “was convicted of crimes related to an incident involving illegal gun possession within Port Allegany. The defendant, a person who is prohibited by law from possessing firearms, was charged with possessing numerous firearms on August 25, 2017. He was also charged with possessing illegal drugs and paraphernalia.”
The case was investigated by Trooper Matthew Petrof of the Pennsylvania State Police and Assistant District Attorney Bridget Murphy prosecuted the case on behalf of the Commonwealth, according to Shaffer.
Green will be sentenced Nov. 21.
Court records filed at the time of Green’s arrest indicated that troopers searched Green’s home with his permission and allegedly found marijuana, mushrooms, paraphernalia, money, four long guns and one handgun. He is not allowed to possess firearms because he is a convicted felon.
