ST. MARYS — District 9 announced brackets and seeds for all three of its volleyball classifications late Monday evening.
In Class AAA, Bradford will travel to Punxsutawney for the second consecutive season in the lone semifinal match. The winner will get top-seeded DuBois — which has a bye — in the title game on Saturday, Nov. 2 at St. Marys. All three title games will be decided in St. Marys again this season, with start times at 11 a.m. (Class AA), 1 p.m. (Class AAA), and 3 p.m. (Class A).
The Lady Chucks swept Bradford in the regular season.
In Class A, 13 schools entered the tournament. Elk County Catholic, Clarion and A-C Valley are the top seeds in order and will receive first round byes. Meanwhile, five preliminary round matches are set for Thursday night. Each match will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the home gym of the higher seed.
Five North Tier League schools (Oswayo Valley, Cameron County, Otto-Eldred, Coudersport and Northern Potter) entered the playoffs. Despite a 17-2 regular season record, the Lady Green Wave are only the five-seed because of power points, but will host Union. Otto-Eldred hosts Coudersport in what should be an electric atmosphere in Duke Center, and Cameron County will entertain DuBois Catholic. Northern Potter, despite a 4-13 overall record, entered the playoffs as the lowest seed and will travel to Cranberry.
In Class AA, second-seeded Kane will host Redbank Valley in the semifinals next Wednesday. The other semifinal in that class is Brookville/Moniteau.
Full brackets can be found in the scoreboard on page B-3.
