Snow is not on the radar yet, and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is using that to their advantage. The roadwork in Bradford is one of the last ongoing projects in McKean County, according to officials.
That project is going as smoothly as can be expected.
“Construction is complicated but for the most part, the South Avenue work is proceeding as expected. We do expect to be finished by the end of next week,” PennDOT District 2 spokeswoman Marla Fannin said. “We still need to complete Corydon Street as part of the South Avenue work. In Bradford we did experience issues with utilities, which led to delays.”
Fannin noted those delays were caused by variables that are always a potential hold-up for a project. Meanwhile, the weather can factor in but does not have to be a deal-breaker for project completion.
“The weather can always cause issues and we always caution customers that all work is weather and schedule dependent,” she said.
“We typically like to wrap up projects as early in the fall as possible but it is not unusual to see completions through October. There are times when projects go later, but that can depend on getting good weather in order to finish all items,” Fannin said. “If a project spans more than one construction season, it is possible to continue through winter if there is work that can be done that does not require warm temperatures.”
On the plus side, the to-do list for the year seems to be wrapping up.
“Other than completing work in Bradford, I do not believe we have any remaining work in McKean County that is unfinished,” Fannin said.
