SHINGLEHOUSE — Northern Potter soundly won the girls North Tier League cross country title, while Smethport narrowly edged Otto-Eldred for the boys crown at Oswayo Valley on Tuesday. 

NoPo’s win, a 15-44 decision over O-E, came by way of a first-place finish by Courtney Martin, who finished in a time of 20:20. Teammates Rebecca Martin and Abbie Cady finished fourth and seventh in times of 22:03 and 23:39, respectively. 

Oswayo Valley’s Cheyenne Mehl was the runner-up with a time of 20:31, and Coudersport’s Isabella Porterfield was third in 22:03. 

Coudy’s Emma Chambers rounded out the top five with a 22:34 performance. 

Cameron County’s Bri Peters was sixth (23:27), and fellow Lady Raider Mikenna Farabaugh was eighth in a time of 23:56. 

Arianna Waterman (Coudy, 24:20) and Faith Miller (Smethport, 24:36) rounded out the girls’ top 10. 

In the boys’ race, Smethport achieved a team score of 34, barely edging Otto-Eldred’s 35. Coudersport was a distant third with a score of 97. 

Coudy’s Dalton Keglovits won the meet in a time of 17:36, and NoPo’s Sean Baker was runner-up and just behind with a time of 17:43. 

Three Smethport runners took the next three spots, as Ethan Nannen (17:51), Jordan Pavlock (17:53) and Sawyer Prince (18:22) went third, fourth and fifth, respectively. 

That trio was followed by four Otto-Eldred runners, as Josh Schuessler finished sixth in a time of 19:18, Owen Flexman ran a 19:26 for seventh, Ryan Love a 19:29 for eighth and Nathan Schuessler a 19:32 for ninth. 

Oswayo Valley’s Chase Whitman rounded out the top 10 with a time of 19:33.
