From thriller to self-help, Friends’ Memorial Public Library in Kane has added new books which will arouse the interest of many readers. A new children’s book titled “Larf” by Ashley Spires will get children involved in the elusive search for Sasquatch.
Some coming-of-age books are aimed at young readers with titles such as “Losing the Field” by Abbi Gines and “Mirror, Mirror: A Twisted Tale” by Jen Calonita. These novels explore a young football player losing his dream of playing his senior year, and the other deals with identity, friendship, and betrayal.
For those looking for mystery or thrillers, the following titles are intriguing “Kiss the Girls and Make Them Cry” by Mary Higgins Clark, “Under Currents” by Nora Roberts, “The Inn” by James Patterson, and “A Whole New World: A Twisted Tale” by Liz Bramwell.
Serious and timely subjects can be found in “The Water Dancer” by Ta-Nehisi Coates with the theme of enslavement and the separation of families; “The Oysterville Sewing Circle” by Susan Wiggs dealing with domestic violence; “Everything Is Figureoutable” by Marie Forieo centering on ways to solve problems; “The Lost Boys” by Gina Perry is fiction but centers around a psychological experiment; “Between Black and White” by Robert Bailey showing the pursuit of justice.
Two current issues addressed are “The Opioid Epidemic: What Everyone Needs to Know” by Yngvild Olsen and “No One Cares About Crazy People: The Chaos and Heartbreak of Mental Health in America” by Ron Powers.
All of these intriguing and enlightening books can be found by visiting the library Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 11-6 or Saturdays from 9-3. Books can be borrowed for two weeks.
