CANDY: It’s getting closer to Halloween, which means store shelves are packed with candy.

And of course, we’re saving it all for trick-or-treaters, right?

Every year, the website CandyStore.com makes a list of the best and worst Halloween candy. This is what they had to say for the worst:

5. Necco Wafers

3. Peanut Butter Kisses

2. Circus Peanuts

And the worst Halloween candy of all? Candy corn!

A very unscientific survey of our news and sports departments say the list is pretty accurate, but two people confessed a love for candy corn — Anthony Sambrotto and JoEllen Wankel.

And the top 10 best candy: Hershey bar; Skittles, Sour Patch Kids, Butterfinger, Nerds, M&Ms. Kit Kat, Twix, Snickers and the number one is Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

Joel Whetzel in our sports department strongly disagreed, saying Snickers has to be in the top spot. And Ruth Bogdan thought ALL chocolate should be number one.

We were surprised lollipops didn’t make either list, and Mounds and Almond Joy. Most people have strong opinions about coconut — love it or hate it.

Swedish Fish, gummy bears, peach rings, Werther’s caramels, Twizzlers and bubble gum would be on our “top” lists, too.

As for the worst, we would add Tootsie Dots, Sixlets, Pixy Stix, and Now and Later.

We had quite a lengthy discussion, with raised voices even, to determine our lists. How about you?
