Bradford’s Main Street was a thriving mecca of fall activity during Pumpkin Fest Saturday, allowing visitors to enjoy a warm fall day, treats and activities that celebrated the onset of fall.
Vendors were on hand to sell various items, from clothing and jewelry to flowers and chocolate-covered bacon. The food court boasted pizza, french fries, fresh-pressed lemonade and steak sandwiches, as well as kettle corn for hungry visitors.
Around Veterans Square, high-spirited University of Pittsburgh at Bradford students challenged young visitors to pick a pumpkin with a number painted on the bottom, punch through tissue-paper holes on a cardboard pumpkin face, hit a Halloween-themed hole-in-one or win a game of pumpkin tic-tac-toe. Each game offered tickets to the winner, which could be exchanged for prizes.
Face-painting and caricature drawing were also a big draw, leading to long lines for interested visitors to Marilyn Horne Way in front of the museum.
Hay rides, complete with hay bale seats and energetic cheerleaders performing cheers made rounds through Main Street while visitors enjoyed music from performers such as Brianna Blankenship, Jim Ronan & Connor Brien, set up near the food court.
Pumpkin painting, a walk through the Meet-U Oil Trailer and Storytime with Mother Goose were peppered throughout the festival length, along with performances by the Queen B dancers.
The day’s events also included a free viewing of “Alvin and the Chipmunks meet the Wolfman” at the Main Street Movie House, the YMCA’s Bounce House set up near PNC Bank and a Bungee Extreme Experience for interested youth.
