A show looking back at 50 years of Landmark history is in the works, complete with music and a look at five decades of Bradford’s history.
The show, part of the yearlong celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Landmark Society, is called “The Good Old Days.” John and Heather Kearns, who co-wrote the 2018 Kiwanis Kapers show, created a story of grandparents who have two granddaughters visit and the group looks through a scrapbook together.
Leading the cast will be Barry Fitzgerald as Grandpa, Heather Kearns as Grandma, Eliana Lewis as Abby and Jennifer Bouquin as Erica.
This is a live music show with John Kearns on piano, leading guitarists Lewis Doss and Bob Swanson. Audience participation is encouraged.
There will be performances by vocalists Victoria Kearns, Kendyl Cruz, Lewis Keller, Anne Bouquin, Myah Gomez and, of course, the main cast.
“The show is basically a ‘Living Scrapbook’ of the last 50 years in Local, County and National News as well as 50 years of Musical Theatre from Broadway and pop music and culture from the time period. There truly is something for everyone at this show,” said John Kearns via email.
He explained that music from shows such as Hair, Phantom of the Opera, 42nd Street, Rock of Ages, Cats, Lion King, and Hamilton as well as music by Elton John and Billy Joel, and music from the sitcom Friends will be included in the 75-minute performance.
“We are including the news media, both radio and the Era as they have helped shape the news and newsmakers for the past 50 years of Landmark history the show covers,” Kearns said. “Pictures of articles from the paper as well as Station Identification from our Bradford Radio Stations through those years will be used as part of the show.”
The show is set for 7 p.m. Oct. 11 at the First Presbyterian Church on East Corydon Street. The admission fee is a $5 donation. Tickets can be purchased at the Bradford Landmark Society, Ott & McHenry Pharmacy, Northwest Savings Bank on Main Street and On the Side Books as well as at the door the day of the show. All proceeds benefit the Bradford Landmark Society.
