The inaugural Bradford Area Scavenger Hunt, presented by the Rising Leaders of Bradford (RISE), will be held Saturday, with check-in at 12:30 p.m. at the Old Post Office Building in Bradford, 80 E. Corydon St.
Teams of up to four people will compete to earn the most points in four hours, searching for “local treasures and peculiar items,” according to RISE members.
“RISE wants to create a fun, family-friendly event for the local community, while highlighting local treasures, local businesses, and points of interest in Bradford,” said Bri Payne, RISE executive board member. “The scavenger hunt also serves as a fundraiser for future events and initiatives.”
There are multiple ways a team can earn points. One option is to race around town to discover answers to clues relating to local businesses, while another way to earn points is to collect items listed on the score sheet. Those items will need to be physically presented at the end of the four-hour period. The scavenger hunt is for all skill levels and abilities, therefore it’s the team’s discretion on how they will earn points.
The cost is $50 per team.
To register, contact Lisa Boser-Miller at 716-307-4999 or Angelique Gobin at 814-598-8480 via call or text, to confirm one’s spot and team name. All teams must be present at 12:30 p.m. to check-in and receive a scorecard.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place winners. Scorecards must be submitted at 5 p.m. at the Model T Inn, where an after party will be held with free pizza and wings for all scavenger hunt participants.
According to Payne, “RISE has received tremendous business support from our community, for the Bradford Area Scavenger Hunt. All participating businesses are local and have generously provided prizes for the winners. We will be thanking our sponsors after the event but are unable to give away names at this time, without giving away clues!”
Anyone in attendance at the afterparty can also take a chance at a basket raffle with several goodies donated by local sponsors. For those who don’t participate in the scavenger hunt, tickets for the raffles can be purchased. Proceeds will benefit RISE and their mission.
The Rising Leaders of Bradford, RISE for short, is a local group with the mission to encourage young individuals to get involved in the community, as well as, provide opportunities for personal/professional development. RISE is an acronym for revive, inspire, succeed and empower.
“While RISE looks to build and encourage our young talented workforce, and professionals, we also look to be very community driven and enhance the vitality of the Bradford Area,” Payne said. “We believe in Bradford as a whole and do not limit our events to one specific age group. We are honored to have attendance and support from everyone and look to help our community grow.
