Ridgway will be full of activity today, as the Flavors of Fall Festival kicks off, along with other area tours and events, showcasing all the area has to offer.
Downtown merchants will host sidewalk sales throughout the festival, with the vendor show from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Vendors will sell various foods, such as soup, chili, baked goods, pickles and apple cider. Visitors can also enjoy live music at the gazebo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
There will be a wide variety of activities for children, including hayrides through the town from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a “Kids Craft Corner” in the parking lot of the Ridgway-Elk Chamber of Commerce Welcome Center. Also, the Creative Cup will host “Superhero Training,” giving kids a chance to create their own superhero name, cape and mask. The session includes a specialty drink, snacks and a professional 4 x 6 photo. The cost is $25 per child; discounts are offered for multiple-child families. Pre-pay and signups are required for this event.
The Ridgway Heritage Council will offer a special heritage education tour entitled “The Foundations of Ridgway — How to Date a House by its Cover,” beginning with a one-hour walking tour of the central part of the “Lily of the Valley National Register Historic District.” Tours will be available every hour between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Call 814-776-1424 to purchase advance tickets.
In addition, the Ridgway YMCA will host a “Wine Walk” from 4 to 11 p.m. Maps will be provided during registration, which begins at 4 p.m. at the YMCA at 34 N. Broad St. Tickets are $25 per person. All of the proceeds from the wine walk will help the Ridgway YMCA provide programs to the community.
