PORT ALLEGANY — Howie Stuckey scored his 50th career goal as part of a two-score performance, and Shawn McNeil tallied a hat trick to lead Port Allegany past Northern Potter, 7-2, in Upper Allegheny Valley Soccer League play.
After a scoreless 26 minutes, Port A (8-2, 5-1) got on the board with the first of McNeil’s goals to go up 1-0, but the Panthers answered back less than two minutes later with a goal from A.J. Lehman, who put in a corner kick from Ryan Langworthy.
The teams went into halftime tied 1-1.
But it was all Port Allegany the rest of the way, as A.J. Edgell and River Cramer extended the Gator lead to 3-1 early on, and then McNeil scored his second to push that advantage to 4-1.
Stuckey scored back-to-back goals about midway through the second half to build the lead to 6-1, and then McNeil finished off his hat trick with a late goal.
“It was a little touch-and-go for a little while,” Port Allegany coach Aaron Clark said. “NoPo played a great game, played with real energy, and they were a good challenge.”
In goal for NoPo (0-8-1), Patrick Lehman recorded eight saves. Caden Roys had seven stops for Port Allegany.
Northern Potter travels to Williamson Saturday, while Port A hosts Elk County Catholic Monday.
