SMETHPORT — A Bradford man accused of a felony crack cocaine charge was sentenced to state prison time Thursday in McKean County Court.
Jerome M. Hayes, 33, will serve 21 to 42 months in prison with credit for 269 days of time served for a charge of possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance. Court records filed at the time of his arrest alleged that while Bradford City Police were arresting Hayes at the site of an alleged fight at 1:25 a.m. Jan. 1 in front of the Corner Bar, Hayes was found to be in possession of a baggie that contained 5.2 grams of crack cocaine, as well as $1,270 in cash.
Also in court, Christopher R. Ballway, 29, of Port Allegany, was sentenced to one to two years in state prison with credit for 156 days of time served and three years of concurrent probation for charges in two cases. On Aug. 22, he pleaded guilty in one case to a charge of strangulation, and in the second he pleaded guilty to a charge of stalking. Ballway entered the plea to allegations that on Dec. 22, Ballway arrived at the home of a former female companion, and, when she opened the door, he grabbed her throat with both hands, then tried to kiss her. Then, on various occasions between Dec. 28 and April 22, Ballway entered into a course of conduct that caused the woman distress; This included one occasion when he wrote “liar” on her car and slashed a tire, and another occasion when he left items on her porch and she found him tampering with the porch light.
Jacob J. Tarr, 26, of Allegany, N.Y., will serve eight months to two years in state prison for a charge of simple assault and a summary charge. He was found guilty after a trial on Aug. 20. Court records filed at the time of Tarr’s arrest alleged that on Aug. 24, 2018, a female arrived at his home, and they had a social conversation that became a physical altercation.
Donald W. Peterson Jr., 51, of Cyclone, will serve six months to two years in state prison with credit for 99 days of time served for a charge of simple assault. Peterson pleaded guilty Sept. 5 to allegations that on June 19, he picked up a male and threw him to the ground, kicking him while he was on the ground and causing a right hip fracture.
John T. Winn, 33, of Bainbridge, N.Y., will serve four to 18 months in state prison with credit for 260 days of time served for a charge of simple assault. He will pay $433.47 in restitution to cover the cost of medical expenses, too. Winn pleaded guilty Sept. 5 to allegations that on May 24, he caused a corrections officer at the McKean County Jail to fall with him during a restraint, dislocating the corrections officer’s shoulder.
Tristan L. Mackey, 33, of Bradford, will serve five years in the Intermediate Punishment Program for a charge of DUI-controlled substance and a summary charge.
Gregory P. Smith, 44, of Punxsutawney, will serve two years in the Intermediate Punishment Program for a charge of DUI-general impairment and summary charges.
James A. Cobb, 21, of Bradford, will serve 18 months of probation for charges of theft by deception and possession of drug paraphernalia. On Sept. 5, Cobb pleaded guilty to allegations that on April 16, he was using fake $20 at stores for purchases and exchanging them for $5 bills. Cobb will pay $140 in restitution to Country Fair and $20 in restitution to Dollar General.
Nathan C. Natale, 22, of Bradford, will serve 18 months of probation for a charge of simple assault. On Aug. 22, Natale pleaded guilty to allegations that on March 7, during an argument about their relationship, he slapped a female in the face.
Christine E. Housler, 29, of Bradford, will serve 18 months of probation for a charge of retail theft. Housler pleaded guilty Aug. 22 to allegations that on April 20, she took merchandise from Walmart valued at $100.23.
Debbie A. Yarborough, 44, of Kane, will serve three days to six months in McKean County Jail and a concurrent term of probation for one year for charges of DUI-controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia and a summary charge.
Bryce H. Whitman, 23, of Bradford, will serve six months in the Intermediate Punishment Program for a charge of DUI-general impairment and a summary charge.
Robert G. Mosher, 30, of Bradford, will serve six months in the Intermediate Punishment Program for a charge of DUI-general impairment.
Paul R. Fuller, 54, of Kane, will serve six months in the Intermediate Punishment Program for a charge of DUI-general impairment.
Joseph L. Frontino, 38, of Bradford, will serve one year of probation for a charge of simple assault. On Sept. 5, Frontino pleaded guilty to allegations that on May 4, he hurt his spouse during a mutual consent altercation.
Anthony W. Furman, 18, of Bradford, will serve one year of probation for a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Christopher W. Horton, 33, of Smethport, will serve six months of probation for a charge of criminal mischief and a summary charge. Horton pleaded guilty Aug. 22 to allegations that on May 20, he struck a woman in the head and back and caused about $500 in damage to her cell phone.
Christopher A. Fitzsimmons, 32, of Smethport, will serve six months of probation for a charge of DUI-general impairment and summary charges.
Kevin M. Moran, 53, of James City, will serve six months of probation for a charge of DUI-general impairment and summary charges.
Bradley J. Locke, 46, of Bradford, will serve six months of probation for a charge of DUI-general impairment and a summary charge.
Charles M. Thomas Jr., 43, of Austin, will serve six month of probation for charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a small amount of marijuana for personal use.
