SMETHPORT — A Bradford man will serve 27 to 54 months in state prison for allegations in two cases that include theft and a violation of sex offender registry laws.
Gregory P. Benavidez Jr., 26, of Bradford, received the sentenced Thursday in McKean County Court before President Judge John Pavlock. Benavidez has credit for 194 days of time served.
He must also pay a total of $935 in restitution: $750 for the worth of items that were taken in one case, and in the second case, $160 to the Uni-Mart in Bradford, $20 to the family of a deceased man that was taken from a donation jar and $5 for the value of a flash drive.
Benavidez pleaded guilty Sept. 5 to allegations in one case that he failed to verify his address, even though he is required to register as a sex offender under Pennsylvania law. Also in that case, he took a flash drive that Bradford City Police wanted as evidence in an investigation, he took about $160 and change from a Uni-Mart in Bradford and he took $20 from a donation can.
In the second case, Benavidez received stolen items valued at $750 including computer monitors, a flight simulator stand and cables.
