On Tuesday night, Bradford City Police seized marijuana, paraphernalia and more than $4,000 in cash from a Bradford apartment.
Codi L.M. Veite, 21, of 174 Elm St., Apt. 3, was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Richard Luther on charges of possession of an instrument of crime, a first-degree misdemeanor; possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a small amount of marijuana, misdemeanors.
According to Bradford City Police, they were first dispatched to the apartment for a report of a disturbance. Once the disturbance was resolved, police asked Veite if he knew the whereabouts of a wanted person who was known to frequent the apartment. Veite said the wanted person was not there and let an officer check the home.
They could smell a strong odor of marijuana in Veite’s bedroom, and Veite admitted that he smokes marijuana but did not currently have any, police reported.
The officers — Sgt. Butch Bartlett, Officer Clayton Yohe, Officer Kolin Strawcutter and Officer Seth Shephard — had Veite exit the apartment to secure it, and they obtained a search warrant.
They executed the search warrant at 9:58 p.m. Tuesday.
“As a result of the warrant officers did locate a large amount of drug packaging materials, weighing instruments, and cash,” police reported.
According to the criminal complaint, two scales were found in the ceiling above the kitchen, and the following items were found in the room that Veite said was his bedroom: sandwich baggies with suspected marijuana residue, large Ziploc baggies with suspected marijuana residue, two large Mason jars with suspected marijuana residue, $4,217 in cash and a grinder that contained a small amount of marijuana.
