Smethport Area Women’s Club

SMETHPORT — The Smethport Area Women’s Club held its regular monthly meeting on Sept. 18 at the American Legion Hall in Smethport with eight members present.

President Barb Peterson called the business meeting to order after dinner. The minutes from the May meeting were approved as read. The treasurer, Phyllis Faes, gave the treasurer’s report.

There were two items of correspondence.

Under old business: There are no candy bars available to sell at this time.

The club is still looking for a new cook or caterer.

Under new business: We are welcoming new members at this time. Any woman who is a resident of McKean County is welcome to join them on the third Wednesday of each month — except June, July and August — for dinner, a brief meeting and a timely program relating to women’s issues. Anyone who is interested can contact Barb Peterson.

The winner of the monthly drawing was Carol Duffy.

The business meeting was adjourned at 7:29 p.m.

The club will meet next on Oct. 16 at the Legion Hall in Smethport. The meal will be lasagna.
