The Bradford City Water Authority provided updates on a variety of projects at Wednesday’s meeting.
Steve Disney, executive director of the authority, reported the new 24-inch transmission main project is currently out for bid. Interested bidders may attend a pre-bid meeting at the authority offices today at 10 a.m. The bid opening is scheduled for Oct. 17.
Disney also provided an update on the Forman Street Bridge project, stating the work remaining includes reconnecting and installation of the new 8-inch water main onto the north side of the new bridge superstructure. He explained this cannot take place until the bridge has been replaced and proper curing time for the concrete has been allowed.
It was reported authority crews began the installation of new insertion style gate valves this week. The project is expected to be complete by mid-October.
In addition, Disney reported the pedestrian bridge was delivered and successfully installed by Bob Cummins Construction, completing the Gilbert Dam Spillway pedestrian bridge project.
It was also reported the 8-inch water main has been relocated by Cummins Construction and the final site cleanup is underway on the Toad Hollow Bridge water main relocation project.
Due to all bids falling above the maximum project amount, Disney reported Bankson Engineers are evaluating the Kenmar Acres main line extension project in order to reduce the scope to get costs into the approved funding limits. This project is being largely funded by a Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Grant, administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. For a project to be eligible for said grant, the total cost of the project must fall between $30,000 and $500,000.
Disney announced the authority’s financial audit and current budget were submitted to the Securities Exchange Commission, well in advance of the Sept. 30 deadline. In addition, he read the Pennsylvania Municipal Retirement System 2020 MMO Disclosure, which was approved by the board.
The final West Branch watershed inventory report will be presented during the authority’s October meeting, with inventory evaluations on the Gilbert and Marilla watersheds slated to begin this winter.
