SHINGLEHOUSE — Oswayo Valley found itself down two sets to one on Monday in its biggest North Tier League game to date.
But the Green Wave rallied to take 40 of the next possible 67 points and pull off a come-from-behind, five-set (25-15, 20-25, 18-25, 25-14, 15-13) victory over Cameron County to remain perfect in NTL play.
“They fought hard,” Oswayo Valley coach Rachelle Kellogg said. “They never gave up and fought until the end.”
Jadyn Brabham paced the Lady Green Wave (8-1, 7-0) with 15 kills, six blocks, four digs and three aces.
Macy West (11 points, six blocks, five kills, four digs), Avaree Kellert (13 digs, 10 kills, five blocks) and Mikayla Bell (14 digs) all had big matches for OV, which suffered its only loss of the season to Allegany-Limestone.
Cameron County (5-2, 5-2), meanwhile, dropped to third place in the NTL following the loss and Otto-Eldred’s victory.
Reggie Goodrow had 12 assists and eight digs for the Lady Raiders, while Mallory McKimm had six kills and three aces. Morgan Lorenzo and Hailey Hilfiger had 10 and 7 kills, respectively.
Coudersport 3, Austin 1
COUDERSPORT — After stumbling in game two, Coudersport recovered in dominant fashion to defeat Austin 3-1 (25-9, 25-27, 25-5, 25-9) at home on Monday night.
The Lady Falcons (5-3, 5-2) were paced by Claudia Miller’s 14 service points. She added six aces and seven digs. Paige Watson was all over the floor with four points, three aces, eight kills, two blocks and four digs.
In addition, Sarah Atherholt had four kills and a block, and Lauren Stimaker facilitated the offense with 24 assists, eight points, three aces and added three digs.
For Austin (0-7, 0-7), Taylor Brewer had five kills and a pair of blocks, and Kylie Welsh added three kills and two blocks. Kendra Valenti had three kills and a block, as well.
Coudy hosts Otto-Eldred tonight.
Otto-Eldred 3, Smethport 0
SMETHPORT — Emmalee Sheeler had 20 assists, eight service points and two aces to power the Lady Terrors to a three-set (25-19, 25-11, 25-18) sweep over Smethport.
Also for Otto-Eldred (6-2, 6-1), Haley Cousins had eight kills and six points, and Kaylee Rhinehart had 12 service points and three aces.
Alexis Schall had 10 digs, eight blocks, three kills and an ace to lead Smethport (1-7, 1-7). Teammate Alyn Thomas had 10 blocks for the Lady Hubbers, while Bailey Fitzsimmons added 19 digs and two kills.
Galeton 3, Port Allegany 0
GALETON — Galeton swept Port Allegany (25-11, 25-14, 25-19).
With the loss, Port A drops to 2-7 overall, and 2-5 in the North Tier League. Galeton advances to 5-3 on the season and 3-3 in league play.
Galeton plays at Cameron County tonight, while Port Allegany hosts Northern Potter.
