DUKE CENTER — Led by three runners finishing the course in under 19 minutes, the Smethport boys cross country team edged host Otto-Eldred 27-30 to take Tuesday’s Northern Tier League mega-meet. 

Jordan Pavlock led the Hubbers with a first-place finish in 18:08, followed by teammate Ethan Nannen’s second place time of 18:23. 

Otto-Eldred took spots 5-through-10, led by Josh Schuessler’s fifth-place finish in 19:30. 

Northern Potter’s Sean Baker earned bronze with a time of 18:37. 

“Our weekly league meets are becoming increasingly competitive as the season continues, which should prove to make the October NTL Championship meet rather interesting,” Otto-Eldred XC head coach Mike Miller said. “This league continues to produce quality runners from well-coached programs who always represent their schools well.  It’s going to be exciting to watch them battle at the District 9 Championship for a trip to Hershey.”

On the girls side, there was no team scoring with just Otto-Eldred fielding a full roster. 

Oswayo Valley’s Cheyenne Mehl placed first (22:08) followed by Smethport’s Jenna Gregory (22:30) and Coudersport’s Isabelle Porterfield (22:46) to round out the top three. 

Coudersport and Cameron County each had three girls finish inside the top 10.
