Making a healthy meal while juggling work responsibilities, soccer practices and helping the kids with homework can be difficult. Holly Bacha, owner of Make & Bake at 58 W. Washington St., understands the struggle and is on a mission to make it easier for Bradford area residents to enjoy an affordable, healthy meal with their families.
“I am a single mother of 3. I was working at NSB at the corporate office in Warren. I worked long hours and dinner was always a giant pain. It was a struggle some nights,” explained Bacha.
“I had already worked a 14-hour day. I thought, “Why isn’t anything healthy that’s convenient?” I don’t want to feed my kids McDonald’s all the time.”
Bacha’s dream came to fruition when she held a “soft open” of the Make & Bake on Sept. 6. Menu items may be requested hot or cold and all food is served in a microwavable container, convenient for those nights you want an affordable, healthy meal, but just don’t have the time.
Currently, the business offers stuffed banana peppers, meatloaf, oatmeal bowls, yogurt parfaits with fresh fruit and granola, salads and made-to-order pizzas (to be baked at home). The menu will be expanding as time goes on, with a new smoothie line coming out this week.
“Our most popular salad is the chicken granola berry, which has grilled chicken, spring mix, iceberg lettuce, crunchy cinnamon granola, strawberries, blueberries and feta cheese. We also have a chicken bacon ranch and classic salad. We make all of the dressings in-house, ” said Bacha.
“We can also do pizza kits — where the family can go home and make them together.”
Customers do not have to call far in advance, as Make & Bake strives for a 7 minute or less serve time. “We accept all forms of payment and we do deliver. We have free delivery for a limited time. Our menu will be expanding eventually — this is our start menu. Coming soon, we will be offering carside service, where we’ll bring the food right out to your car,” noted Bacha. The business is also looking to accept EBT in the future.
