The Bradford Lady Owls cross country meet lost a dual meet to Dubois 18-43 on its home course Tuesday.
DuBois’ Julia Wurth was the overall winner in a time of 20:38, while Bradford’s Hannah Lary finished third in 22:41.
“It was a pretty warm day but all of the girls ran very well given the conditions,” coach Mark Kelley said. “Hannah went out a little aggressive and ran a very good first half of the race. She had a good race with (Smethport’s Jenna Gregory) and finished hard to take 3rd place. She will rebound on Saturday with cooler weather.”
Elsewhere, Alex Safran finished 12th in 28:14 and Abigail Schleicher 13th in 28:19.
Prior to the race, seniors Safran and Shea Crissman were honored.
“Shea and Alex have been running for three and four years, respectively,” Kelley said. “They have been very hard workers and dedicated throughout the season.”
The Lady Owls junior high team dropped a close dual meet to Dubois 27-28 but won the Northern Tier Mega Meet over Smethport, Otto Eldred and Oswayo Valley.
Korie Dixon was first overall in a school-record time of 10:29.
“The record was held by Sarah Lonzi (2003) Lauren Bauschard (2006) with 10:41. “Korie had a goal to break this record this year,” Kelley said. “She is running great right now and working hard in practice.”
Caitlyn Taylor was third in 10:39.
“Caitlyn had a great race for her first race of the year,” Kelley said. “She also broke the previous school record. Once she gets back into the swing of races, she will be right up with Korie.”
Elsewhere, Aubrey Cruz was 7th (11:47), Karsyn Gracey-Dalton 8th (11:58), Kendall Gracey-Dalton 9th (12:14), Leila Bines 11th (12:31), Kali o’Neil 13th (12:36), Jaylee Koppenhaver 15th (13:40), Cameron Gallup 18th (14:04) and Mayla Smith 19th (14:23).
The Lady Owls return to action on Saturday hosting the Bradford Invitational.
