Paul E. Monjar was born Sept. 6, 1917. He moved to Gifford when he was 5. He had three brothers and four sisters. He worked for Quaker State Oil Refinery in Farmers Valley for 5 years, and then for Dresser Industries for 40 years. He played baseball for both.
He married Hazel Freeman in 1941; she passed away in 1952. He later married Betty Giemera in 1962 and together they had The Attic Shop in Bradford.
He has three children, Molly Loughlin of Warren, Dale Monjar of Nashville, Tenn., and Todd Monjar of Providence, R.I.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He and his wife Betty were members of the First Presbyterian Church and helped with the memorial garden there.
