SMETHPORT — A Bradford man pleaded guilty Thursday in McKean County Court to charges related to a police chase in April, along with summary charges in a second case.
Michael R. Stone, 28, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to charges in two cases. In one case he’s charged with fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, six counts of recklessly endangering another person, accident involving damage to attended vehicle/property and seven summary charges: exceeding the maximum speed limit by 21 mph, driving an unregistered vehicle, operating a vehicle without a valid inspection, operating a vehicle without required financial responsibility, reckless driving, driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked and allowing illegal use of plate/card.
In the second case, he pleaded to four summary charges: driving an unregistered vehicle, display plate card in improper vehicle, driving while operating privileges are suspended or revoked and operating a vehicle without a valid inspection.
According to District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer, on April 28, Stone refused to stop his vehicle when police tried to pull him over; He crossed into another state and was speeding.
At one point, he struck a police cruiser but kept driving.
During the chase, he put the public as well as police officers from Foster and Bradford townships and Bradford City in danger, including officers Richard Obermeyer, Reuben Donovan, Michael Ward, Joshua Frederoski, Donald Neel and Gary Pascarella, Shaffer said.
Stone will be sentenced Sept. 26.
