At 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Bradford Ecumenical Home Inc. will be celebrating Grandparents Day by hosting a party for children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the residents and staff.

National Grandparents Day, the first Sunday after Labor Day, is a day to “honor those who have helped shape the character of our nation, and thank these role models for their immeasurable acts of love, care, and understanding.”

Volunteers from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women’s basketball team will be at the event to lend a helping hand.

Generations United, the organization that promotes intergenerational programs nationally, has announced a theme of “Do something grand on Grandparents Day.”
