RIDGWAY — A Weedville is facing criminal allegations that he spit on a corrections officer at Elk County Jail.
Thomas Ackroyd, 37, was arraigned Thursday on one count of aggravated harassment by a prisoner, a third-degree felony.
According to Ridgway Borough police, on Aug. 9, while an inmate at Elk County Jail, Ackroyd spit on a corrections officer, which caused the officer to come in contact with Ackroyd’s saliva.
Bail in the new case is set at $50,000, and a preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 2.
Court records show that on Aug. 9, Ackroyd was incarcerated as he awaited the outcome of an aggravated assault case. The online court docket for the aggravated assault case indicates that guilty plea and post-sentence colloquies were filed Friday, but any further information about a possible plea and sentence were not available at press time.
