RIDGWAY — The Elk County Sheriff’s Office reports that 238.5 pounds of unused medications were gathered during the third quarter of the year from various locations throughout the county. The medications were then transferred to the PA National Guard and then to agents from the Attorney General’s office for destruction.
The total collection for the year is currently at 638.1 pounds. The total since the program began in September 2016 is at 2,329.3 pounds of medications collected and destroyed.
Medications can be dropped off at the courthouse, the Ridgway Police Department, the St. Marys Police Department, the Johnsonburg Police Department and the PA State Police barracks in Ridgway at any time. Citizens can black out any identification data on the labels.
