SMETHPORT — Magisterial District Judge Bill Todd of Smethport successfully defended his title by winning the third episode of McKean County Jeopardy Thursday night at the courthouse.

Todd, who has won all three of the quiz games based on the format of the popular television show of the same name, outscored Ron Keim, a retired Pennsylvania Department of Transportation official, and Bob Murphy, a retired Smethport teacher, in the two rounds of questioning of Who?, What?, When?, Why? and How? about McKean County history.

Each round had six clues, ranging in value from $100 to $500 in imaginary money. In the first round, contestants were quizzed on Oil Field Terminology, McKean County Fair, Bradford, Port Allegany, Area Buildings and McKean County Historical Society/Old Jail Museum.

Second round topics were Women of the Area, Potpourri, Authors, Sports, Famous People and Hamlins of Smethport.

A single question followed at the end of each round.

Historical society officers Flo Carter and Ruth Covert served as judges.

Smethport attorney Tony Alfieri, the game show host, said, “These episodes of McKean County Jeopardy are intended to create interest in local history through a fun activity.”
