A case against a Bradford man accused of a violation of his Megan’s law requirements was just one of several scheduled for preliminary hearings Wednesday in McKean County.
Matthew T. Pritt, 34, of 2 Bushnell St., Apt. 315, had a criminal case against him bound to McKean County Court at a preliminary hearing before District Judge Dominic Cercone. Pritt is charged with one count of failure to verify address, a second-degree felony. According to the criminal complaint, Pritt, who is required to register his address with Pennsylvania State Police as a registered sex offender, moved to Bradford in June from his former residence in Port Allegany; as of Aug. 18, he had not registered his new address. He is in McKean County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Robert K. Pierce, 28, of 35 S. Center St., Bradford, had charges against him bound to McKean County Court at a hearing before District Judge Dominic Cercone. He is charged with strangulation, a second-degree felony; two counts of simple assault, second-degree misdemeanors; and summary harassment. The criminal complaint alleges that on May 19, he began yelling at a woman, then he took her to the ground, bit her abdomen and applying pressure to her neck, cutting off her ability to breathe. Bail was set at 10% of $15,000.
James P. Kemick, 24, of Smethport, who is accused in a 2017 burglary, waived a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge Richard Luther. He is charged with burglary, a first-degree felony; criminal trespassing, a second-degree felony; theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, third-degree felonies. According to court records, in August 2017, Kemick broke into a Custer City home while the tenant was out of town and took more than $14,000 worth of jewelry, silver coins, DVDs and other items, then sold some of the items at local pawn shops. Kemick is in McKean County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Stephan P. Belt, 35, of Bradford, waived a preliminary hearing for a child endangerment case Wednesday before District Judge Dominic Cercone. He faces one count of endangering the welfare of a child, a third-degree felony, for allegations that on April 25, a small boy in Belt’s care left the home alone while Belt was sleeping; Belt later admitted to police that the boy left the home at least three times without Belt realizing it, according to the criminal complaint. Belt is free on unsecured bail.
Terry J. Bornheimer, 32, of Baden, had a charge of theft by unlawful taking — the only charge in the complaint — against him withdrawn.
Bornheimer had been scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge Dominic Cercone.
