RADIO: Bradford native Michael Dennis was surprised last Friday when he heard a familiar place while listening to SiriusXM: Bradford.
“It was just really weird,” Michael said of local radio mention.
Nationally known DJ Phlash Phelps mentioned Bradford on the channel ’60s on 6.
Phlash is “one of the best DJs in the country,” he tells us.
Around 10:30/11 a.m. Friday — the 50th anniversary of the start of the Woodstock festival — Phlash talked about a mural that Bradford artists Greg Souchik and Rick Minard have been working on to remember the famous musical event.
The pair painted portraits of Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and Jerry Garcia on the side of a building at 177 Main St., and more musicians are expected to join the group in the future.
“The mural is outstanding,” said Michael, who explained he and his wife stopped in the CVS parking lot to view the work.
Michael tells us that Phlash also told his audience that Bradford is located near Jamestown, N.Y., and it’s known for its cold weather. The DJ mentioned Zippo Manufacturing Co., too.

Poetry: Today we are printing a poem from Bradford resident Joy Pascarella, who has shared work with us previously.
Always
Always present, always here –
Always with you, always near.
In your heart, in your soul –
Always with you wherever you go.
I am yours, you are mine –
Only thing between us is time.
I will see you again someday…
Only time stands in the way.
