No wooden boards will be harmed during Michael Miller’s self-defense seminar on Wednesday at the Bradford Area Public Library.
The local martial arts instructor will be giving the free seminar from 5 to 6 p.m. Miller said is teaching for free. The seminar is recommended for children ages 7 and up.
The seminar is geared towards children since school is just around the corner.
By attending the seminar, children will learn age-specific self-defense skills, environmental awareness, anti-bullying strategies and tactics, and general personal protection concepts and principles.
Miller has given similar seminars in the past and said they have “always been well received.”
“Usually, I have a handful of people asking questions throughout the seminar, which shows they’re engaged,” he said. “Everybody always goes home with something and they have a great time.”
As far as clothing goes, Miller said anything is fine but any workout pants or shorts with any t-shirt will work.
Miller is a world-renowned martial artist who specialises in Ed Parker’s American Kenpo Karate, in which he yields a 5th-degree black belt. He is also the owner and head instructor of Miller’s Kenpo Karate Dojo. Additionally, Miller has taught at seminars throughout the United States as well as in other countries.
